Retail
C&A is one of the leading fashion retailers in Europe and Latin America. Indeed, it has been for decades. Having started trading in 1841 as a textile warehouse, it has a history spanning over 160 years and 5 generations of the same family making it one of the pioneers of the retail industry.C&A's aim has always been to provide high quality affordable fashion for the whole family, both young and old, as well as fashion that fits every occasion and suits every style. C&A now has 11 exclusive brands such as Clockhouse, Westbury and Your Sixth Sense under its roof. C&A prides itself in setting trends. Many of which the retail industry nowadays takes for granted. For example, C&A was one of the first companies to sell only ready-to-wear clothing and, as of 1912, allowed its customers to "self-service" themselves through its stores. The stores were fitted with numerous changing rooms and centrally located cash desks. In 1919 C&A surprised with further novelties. The company introduced its own standard sizing system and sold its clothing in so called "family stores", where men's, ladies' and children's clothing could be found under one roof.
Today, C&A operates in 18 European and 2 Latin American countries as well as China.
