The COFRA Board of Directors is responsible for the strategic decision-making of COFRA Holding AG, its organisation as well as the financial, accounting and compliance duties that support it.

Martijn Brenninkmeijer, Chairman

Martijn Brenninkmeijer

Martijn Brenninkmeijer is Chairman of the Board of COFRA Holding AG, a position he has held since 2018. Martijn has previously held the positions of CEO of COFRA Holding AG, CEO of C&A Europe and CEO of Anthos.

Martijn holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Georgetown University in Washington DC and an MBA (with Honours) from IMD Business School in Lausanne, where he also received the 1999 MBA Class Award.
Boudewijn Beerkens, CEO

Boudewijn Beerkens

Boudewijn Beerkens is CEO of COFRA Holding AG and a member of the COFRA Board. In this capacity, Boudewijn leads COFRA’s growth and diversification strategy, and oversees the portfolio of COFRA businesses. He was previously Chief Strategy and Operations Officer until 2019.

Before joining COFRA, Boudewijn was Chief Financial Officer at SHV Holdings NV. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer for Wolters Kluwer NV and a Partner at PwC. Boudewijn currently also serves as a member of the Supervisory Board of Verder International BV and of Goedland NV.

He studied Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam before completing an MBA at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.
David Cole

David Cole

David Cole is an Independent, Non-Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG. He holds Supervisory Board Chair positions with IMC (Amsterdam) and NN Group (The Hague), alongside serving on the Board of Vontobel Holding (Zurich).

Until 2018, David was the Chief Financial Officer of Swiss Re, when he retired to pursue a plural career. He had previously spent his executive career with ABN Amro, having originally joined the bank in Amsterdam.
Johanna Brenninkmeijer

Johanna Brenninkmeijer

Johanna Brenninkmeijer is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG.

Her career spans retail, asset management and various philanthropic leadership roles in the UK, Europe and Brazil. She is Managing Director of Impact Investments at Anthos Fund & Asset Management and brings leadership and investment experience to the COFRA Board.

Johanna spent the first 13 years of her career working in retail, including six years at C&A Brazil. She holds an MA (Hons) in Psychology and Business, First Class, from Edinburgh University.
John Singer

John Singer

John Singer is an Independent, Non-Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG. He brings more than 30 years of experience in portfolio management within the private equity industry, including as Managing Partner and Chair at Advent International Plc, and Chair of the European Venture Capital Association. Prior to that, he was European Director for Granville & Co, where he set up the world’s first pan-European private equity fund.

John currently serves on the Boards of Pantheon International Plc and Eighteen 48 Partners, a fast-growing wealth management firm. He is also Chair of the City of London Sinfonia. He teaches at INSEAD and chairs its UK National Council, and is an Honorary Fellow of Trinity College, Oxford.
Lawrence Brenninkmeyer

Lawrence Brenninkmeyer

Lawrence Brenninkmeyer is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG.

Over his career, Lawrence has held several senior leadership roles at C&A in Europe, including as Managing Director Turkey from 2006 to 2011. He also served as VP Operations and Retail Financial Services in Brazil from 2012 to 2015, and as CEO of C&A China from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, Lawrence became Director of Strategy and Innovation at COFRA Holding AG, before leading the family talent and development programme across the Brenninkmeijer family enterprise. Lawrence holds a PhD in Learning Sciences from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University.
Mary Quaney

Mary Quaney

Mary Quaney is an Independent Non- Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG. She brings senior executive experience in the clean energy sector, private equity and project finance. Mary is CEO of Mainstream Renewable Power, a leading renewable energy developer, and has a strong track record in senior finance and corporate tax roles, including at Trinity Biotech PLC and PwC.

Mary holds a Masters in Accounting and a Bachelor of Commerce International (French) from University College Dublin. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).
Philippe Brenninkmeijer, Chief Operating & People Officer

Philippe Brenninkmeijer

Philippe Brenninkmeijer is COFRA Holding’s Chief Operating & People Officer, member of COFRA’s Management Team and a member of the COFRA Board.

Over his career, Philippe has held several leadership roles within COFRA and its various companies, including C&A Mexico, CEO of C&A China, COO COFRA Retail Asia and Latin America, and CEO of C&A Europe. Philippe has a BSc in International Business Management and Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from INSEAD.
Susan Kilsby

Susan Kilsby

Susan Kilsby is an Independent, Non-Executive Director on the Board of COFRA Holding AG. She is the Chair of Fortune Brands Innovations and is Senior Independent Director and chair of the Remuneration Committee at Diageo. She is also NED and Chair of the Renumeration Committee and member of the Audit Committee at Unilever and a member of The Takeover Panel in the UK. Previously, she served as Chair of Shire plc and has served on the Board of the UK’s National Health Service, BBA Aviation, BHP, Goldman Sachs International, Coca-Cola HBC AG, Keurig Green Mountain and L’Occitane SA.

Susan brings extensive M&A and finance experience from her global career in investment banking with The First Boston Corporation, Bankers Trust, Barcley de Zoete Wedd and Credit Suisse. She holds a BA in Economics from Wellesley College, an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a Doctor of Science (h.c.) from City, University of London.
Michael Asche, Company Secretary

Michael Asche

Michael Asche is Group Company Secretary and Head of Legal at COFRA Holding AG.

Michael joined COFRA Holding AG as Company Secretary in 2010 after a long career in management consulting with Booz & Company (previously Booz Allen Hamilton) and a small boutique consulting firm, where he worked as engagement and project manager. In 2017, he was appointed Head of Legal and in this role manages the legal function at the Holding level.

Michael graduated from the University of Fribourg (CH) with a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Law and completed an MBA at Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management. He lives in Switzerland with his wife and two children.

The Governance & Nomination Committee is responsible for the overall governance framework, the HR processes for key governance roles, namely the board directors, and the assessment of the board functioning.

Business leadership

COFRA's Board of Directors delegates day-to-day management of the company to COFRA's CEO, who is supported by six other members of the COFRA management team. Each business within the group is led by a CEO.

Boudewijn Beerkens

Boudewijn Beerkens

Boudewijn Beerkens is CEO of COFRA Holding AG and a member of the COFRA Board. In this capacity, Boudewijn leads COFRA’s growth and diversification strategy, and oversees the portfolio of COFRA businesses. He was previously Chief Strategy and Operations Officer until 2019.

Florian Brenninkmeyer
Chief Financial Officer

Florian Brenninkmeyer

Florian Brenninkmeyer is Chief Financial Officer of COFRA Holding.

Prior to taking up the CFO role in January 2025, Florian led COFRA’s Group Finance team from 2023 and previously served in a variety of finance and leadership positions at COFRA, Redevco, C&A and Rabobank.

Florian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Sven Dumoulin
Chief Legal Officer

Sven Dumoulin

Sven is COFRA Holding’s Chief Legal Officer, and a member of COFRA’s Management Team.

He has more than 25 years of senior legal experience in Europe, the Americas and Asia, including as Unilever’s Group Secretary and Akzo Nobel’s General Counsel and Executive Committee member.

Sven joined COFRA from law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where he was a partner in the corporate practice. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Groningen and has served as a Professor in International Company Law at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam since 2017.

Zoe Burgess
Co-Chief of Strategy

Zoe Burgess

Zoe Burgess was appointed as Chief Strategy Officer of COFRA Holding in 2023, together with Stephanie Vermeer, and both subsequently joined COFRA’s management team in 2024.

Zoe joined COFRA in 2019 as Manager of Strategy and Corporate Development Manager, supporting diversification and M&A efforts. She previously worked as a strategy consultant at Bain and in sustainable private equity at Bridges Fund Management. Since 2020, Zoe has sat on the supervisory board of B Lab Europe – the community of businesses committed to benefitting all people, communities and the planet.

She holds a BA in Human Sciences, Social and Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and a MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics.
Stephanie Vermeer
Co-Chief of Strategy

Stephanie Vermeer

Stephanie Vermeer was appointed as Chief Strategy Officer of COFRA Holding in 2023, together with Zoe Burgess, and both subsequently joined COFRA’s management team in 2024.

Stephanie joined COFRA’s strategy team in 2022 following more than a decade at strategy consultants Roland Berger where she supported, in part, COFRA’s strategy team from 2019 on diversification efforts, climate, renewable energy and other matters.

She holds both a BSc in Econometrics and Decision Theory and an MSc in Econometrics and Quantitative Finance from Erasmus University Rotterdam, along with a MBA from INSEAD.
Marike Westra
Chief Communications & Sustainable Impact Officer

Marike Westra

Marike joined COFRA Holding in 2016 and is part of COFRA’s management team, with responsibility for leading overall strategic communications and sustainable impact approaches for businesses in the group.

Prior to joining COFRA, Marike was SVP, Group Communications & Investor Relations at Royal Ahold, after six years at Philips, where she worked in Healthcare and later as Global VP, Integrated Communications at Philips Lighting. She began her professional career at Excerpta Medica (later part of Elsevier) as a global director in strategic communications and then in corporate relations.

Marike has a BA in Philosophy from Vassar College, New York, and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. She also holds an Executive MBA from Wharton Business School.
Jens Brenninkmeyer
CEO, Bregal Investments

Jens Brenninkmeyer

Jens Brenninkmeyer was appointed CEO of Bregal Investments from February 2026.

He joined Bregal in 2023, serving as Chief Strategy Officer where he led a review of the firm’s platform strategy while overseeing new deal activity and portfolio management across six strategies.

Jens began his investing career at Goldman Sachs before leading the fintech investing strategy at Sixth Street. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
Neil Slater
CEO, Redevco

Neil Slater

Neil Slater joined Redevco as CEO in October 2023.

He joined from abrdn where, as Global Head of Real Assets & Global Head of Real Estate, he led one of Europe’s largest real assets businesses. Neil was previously the Chief Executive Officer & Representative Director of abrdn’s Japanese business, moving to Tokyo in summer 2015 to open and build out an investment management business. Earlier, he held senior roles at Standard Life Investments and Man Group.

Neil is an English qualified solicitor. Neil received his MBA (Finance) with distinction from Manchester Business School in January 2007 and has a Master’s degree from St. Andrews University (1999). Neil completed MIT’s Advanced Management Programme in February 2019.
Ronald Wuijster
CEO, Anthos Fund & Asset Management

Ronald Wuijster

Ronald was appointed CEO of Anthos Fund & Asset Management (Anthos) in August 2026, bringing with him more than thirty years of international investment management experience, with a strong focus on long-term investing and responsible stewardship.

Prior to Anthos, he served as CEO of APG Asset Management, where he oversaw more than €600 billion of assets under management. Ronald currently serves on the supervisory board of the Dutch Culture Fund and previously chaired the Dutch Fund and Asset Management Association (DUFAS).
