COFRA Climate Report 2022

Wednesday, 04 October 2023

“We must rethink what is possible for our respective industries. With sustainable impact firmly rooted in the core of our business strategy, we are seeking to drive solutions, moving beyond our industry’s framing to support key transitions
– Boudewijn Beerkens, COFRA CEO

In the face of continuous climate breakdown and growing inequality, the sense of urgency is high for us to focus on solutions and work to influence systemic change through our businesses. Most immediately, we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming to 1.5 ˚ C.

With climate change as a first priority, we developed a climate strategy and implementation plan in 2021. This included committing to 1.5 ˚ C aligned science-based targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

COFRA has committed to the following targets:

  • By 2030, we will halve the emissions generated by our operations, the energy needed to power them and employees’ commute and travel.
  • By 2025, COFRA’s current and new businesses either have validated or committed science-based targets.

This report outlines COFRA’s Sustainable Impact approach, climate strategy and highlights the collective action made across our group of businesses within the climate space in 2022.
