Brenninkmeijer family business owners recognised with 2026 Family Leadership Award

Thursday, 04 June 2026

Zug, Switzerland, 4 June 2026 – The Brenninkmeijer family business owners have been recognised with the 2026 Family Leadership Award by the John L. Ward Center for Family Enterprises at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. The award recognises family enterprises for long-term leadership, governance and stewardship across generations.

The Brenninkmeijer family enterprise began as a clothing business (C&A) in 1841 in the Netherlands. Today, as COFRA, a privately held, sixth-generation group, it includes a diverse portfolio of businesses in private equity, real estate and asset management that manage more than EUR 35 billion of assets in total – a combination of COFRA and external client capital.

For COFRA, the award reflects an external acknowledgement of principles that have shaped the enterprise over generations, including continuity, responsible ownership and a long-term perspective. The John L. Ward Center for Family Enterprises describes the award as recognising “the unique contributions of exemplary family enterprise leaders to inspire the next generation of business leaders worldwide”.
